That fact that it came with a music stand was just a bonus! I used to use one of those little portable fold-up music stands because I could easily carry it at the same time as my trumpet and my music, etc., when I went to band. The tray wasn't very deep, and my music was always falling off. But, I had refused to get a "big music stand" like everyone else because it would require making 2 trips to carry all my stuff when I went to practice or a performance. Then I discovered this portable stand, and it is wonderful. The case can be carried by the handle or the shoulder strap. It is very sturdy for a portable music stand. The tray is deep enough to hold my music without falling off. This is exactly what I need. I had a different problem. I took it out of the box, and carefully unfolded it, and with minimal effort, the leg support snapped. I was extremely disappointed. I still haven't returned it because I like the rest of the features and it is a very solid music stand. I actually taped the bottom so I can still use it, but this only works because I keep it in my house and I don't fold it to take it anywhere.
